Universal Orlando Parking Guide: Where To Park, What It Costs, How To Move Faster

Parking at Universal is not complicated. It is, however, expensive enough that the wrong decision adds up across a multi-day trip.

TL;DR

Standard parking $30/day in the main garages. Preferred parking $50/day for closer placement. Valet $30-50 for short stays. Universal hotel guests get included parking at most tiers. CityWalk free after 6 PM for non-park-day evening visits.

Universal Orlando has two main parking garages plus valet. The math is straightforward; the levers are simple.

Standard Parking

  • Cost: $30/day for cars (verify current rate).
  • Location: main garages walking distance from CityWalk and the parks (10-15 min walk via moving walkways).
  • Free or discounted parking for Annual Passholders at Preferred tier and above.
  • Free parking after 6 PM for CityWalk visits (verify current policy).

Preferred Parking

  • Cost: $50/day for cars.
  • Location: closer to CityWalk and park entrances (5-8 min walk).
  • Worth it for groups with mobility considerations, families with toddlers in strollers, or peak-summer trips where the longer walk in heat is genuinely punishing.
  • Not worth it for fit groups on regular trips.

Valet Parking

  • Cost: typically $30-50 for short stays, more for full-day or overnight (verify).
  • Location: directly in front of CityWalk entrance.
  • Worth it for short non-park visits (dinner only, shopping trip).
  • Not worth it for full-park days versus Preferred Parking.

Hotel Guest Parking

  • Premier and Preferred hotels: self-parking and valet typically free or included for guests.
  • Value hotels (Endless Summer): self-parking typically free or included for guests; shuttle to parks runs.
  • Off-property: pay daily parking at Universal garages, plus hotel parking separately.

For off-property stays, parking quickly adds up: $30/day × 5 days = $150 in parking fees alone.

Walking From Standard Parking

The walk from main garages to park entrances:

  • Garage exit to CityWalk: 5-8 min.
  • CityWalk to park entrances: 5-7 min more.
  • Moving walkways speed the long stretches.
  • Total: 10-15 min from car to gate.

Plan for the walk back at end of day too — exhausted feet hate that 15-minute walk.

Drop-Off And Pickup

Universal has rideshare drop-off and pickup zones at CityWalk. Rideshare can sometimes be faster than parking on busy days because you skip the parking-and-walking time. Compare $30 parking + walk vs $20-40 rideshare round-trip.

Parking And HHN

HHN parking has a separate evening-rate structure. Verify current rates on Universal's HHN page. Some nights have free parking after a specific time; others maintain HHN pricing.

Common Parking Mistakes

  • Forgetting to note your parking row. Universal garages have hundreds of identical-looking rows.
  • Not factoring parking into off-property hotel comparisons.
  • Choosing Preferred parking on a fit-group adult trip where the walk is fine.
  • Forgetting to check Annual Passholder parking benefits.
  • Driving when rideshare would be faster (peak weekend days).

Parking Strategy By Trip Type

  • Solo or adult trip: standard parking is fine. Rideshare on weekend days if it's cheaper.
  • Family with toddler: Preferred parking is worth the upgrade; the walk back with a tired toddler is rough.
  • Multi-day off-property: compare 5×$30 parking ($150) versus a slightly more expensive on-property Value hotel with included parking.
  • Mobility considerations: Preferred or valet. Universal accommodates accessible parking; verify on Universal's accessibility page.

If You Only Remember Three Things

  1. Standard parking $30/day. Preferred $50/day. Hotel guests at most tiers get included parking.
  2. Note your parking row before walking away from the car.
  3. For 5+ day trips, compare total parking cost versus an on-property hotel upgrade.
